ABOUT BPG
The Brampton Camera Club, as it was called at the time, was established in 1950 and had a number of notable Brampton Citizens as Members. These included Bill (William) Mara, Doug (Douglas) Stubbs, Bob (Robert) Drummond , Fred Finch, Jack O'Brien, Terry (Terence) Bamford and Tony (Anthony) Morgan. These seven individuals, all darkroom advocates decided to act as a group within the Club producing Prints for Competition. They settled on the name The Brampton Print Group after the Group of Seven.

The Club met in the Automobile Licensing Office Basement on Centre Street and the Honorary President was Bill Mara who incidentally was the Licensing Officer for the Area. The Club grew and eventually became to large for the existing space and it became necessary to look for an alternate Location. The Club for a short time met in the Studio of a Local Photographer, and then moved to a Photography Store (Surdin's) on Main Street and as Surdin's went so also did the Club. There were two other Surdin's locations and eventually the Members homes became rotating locations for the Meetings, each person taking turns. The Club then, several years ago learned that Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School had a Photography Class as part of a Visual Arts Program and an application was made with the support of the Principal to the Peel Region Catholic School Board and meetings were held there until Spring 2010.  With recent growth of the group a need for a more flexible space was identified, and as of Sept 2011 the meetings are now being held at Professor's Lake Recreation Centre in the second floor multi-purpose room.

Our meetings are alternate Thursdays at 7:00 P.M. and a calendar is usually struck by the Members on the last operational evening in May. An email list is used for information within the Club to inform each other of local trips that individuals may wish to take with the expectation of capturing that excellent winning image. The Members are of both genders and ages range from about 18 to 70 something, our rules are very minimal and dues are $50.00 Cdn.

There are two Honorary, Lifetime Members, Bill Mara and Doug Stubbs and the name was changed to the Brampton Photo Group about 2003 to give relief from the Local artists who were always enquiring by phone, as to whether we worked in oils or watercolour.

The Brampton Photo Group is a Club Member of CAPA (Canadian Association for Photographic Art) and the GTCCC (Greater Toronto Council of Camera Clubs).
